Gergo Elekes

Born October 251990  in Veszprém, Hungary

Being amazed and inspired by Back to the Future (1985), Gergo Elekes started playing with the idea of shooting a film at the age of 15. Between 2005 and 2010 he made a couple of short films with the help of his close friends however these films were so amateur he decided not to make them available to the public.


In 2010 he made friendship with József Gallai and they made their first project together in 2012 with Hungary's first mumblecore feature film Csendes változás (aka Silent Change) (2012). This was the beginning of their long time collaboration resulting in more than 20 projects such as Project Skyquake (2022) (starring Laura Ellen Wilson, Laura Saxon, Tom Sizemore, Robert LaSardo and Simon Bamford), I Hear the Trees Whispering (2022) (starring Gábor Varga, Laura Saxon, Larry Hankin, Bill Oberst Jr., Jon Vangdal Aamaas) or The Poltergeist Diaries (2021) (starring Andras Korcsmaros, Péter Inoka, Eric Roberts)

In 2007 he started composing music as a hobby with absolutely no musical background and since then he was responsible for the music of several international short and feature projects in several genres including drama, horror, thriller, sci-fi, comedy, action. 


Gergo Elekes' score for Perihelion (2015) - directed by József Gallai - has been nominated as Best Score for three times: The Monthly Film Festival 2015 August Edition, Reel Music Awards 2015, Soundtrack Geek Awards 2016. In addition to that he was nominated as Best Breakout Composer of 2015 by Soundtrack Geek Awards 2016.

Since the beginning of his filmmaker journey, Gergo Elekes won more than 50 IMDb qualified awards and received almost 50 nominations.
